Sunday 1st February . Woking (League leaders) at Home

Well done girls for another real battle last weekend with Sunbury. Hopefully we can take a few things that we learnt there into this coming weekend.

Its Woking cougars.. We've had a 2-2, and a real close one that they won 6-5!! Lets balance it out and level the points.

KO is 1pm so please be there for 12.15

See you all at training on Friday

It's at home on sunday 25th Jan

Teddington Athletics girls YOU ARE AWESOME!!!  and you know why that is? because you take on challenges like no other ! and against Ascot you pulled out all the stops ..... IN STYLE ! Ed and I can't me more proud of you. It looked like you kept that sour 8-1  score in mind and were determined to clear your name and reputation.... and you did with a very exhilarating 2-2 draw ! The crowd couldn't stand still!! you gave us a fantastic and entertaining display - THANK YOU

I don't know what were the key ingredients for your outstanding performance on sunday but I have one ask:

=> can each of you  capture exactly what is was that made you play the way you did (mindset, clear instructions, challenge, wheatabix whatever it was...) put it in a bottle and have a sip of it BEFORE every single game you are going to play from now on ... Starting with Sunbury!

Some stats about our efficiency for your consideration tho:

  • 80% ball possession = great ! if you don't have the ball then you spend your time running after it!
  • 70% surface occupation = Less threats on our side! most of the game was in their half.... imagine 21 players in one half of the pitch.that's rather crowded right? now, do you understand the point of our small sided warm up drills? you need to have great ball skills in small spaces..and you did brilliantly!
  • 10's of opportunities ; you did a great job to "win something" countless corners, crosses, shots, free kicks ....yet 2 goals scored  - BIG improvement needed there and we will practice this more.
To show you Ascot's efficiency : 20% ball possession, 30% surface occupation and 5 shots on targets Ascot scored 2 goals.......and only conceded 2 ...so next time we meet them WE BEAT THEM! :-)

Kick off at 1pm St Mary's ground - meet at 12.15.

SO now we know Sunbury got away with a lucky 2-2 draw last time, we know we are better and as such should win.... well not only we should win it but we NEED to win it... the top 3 spots are strongly fought for at the moment! Woking is in the running and Ascot, although loosing some ground, are still quite a pretender for the title ...and us... and therefore EVERY POINTS COUNT! your attitude and mindset is always the make or break so remember this : the stronger we feel, the stronger we believe we are, the stronger we are going to be on the pitch... your strength is your unity and keeping your football simple!!

We play together, we win together, we loose together (although we won't loose)

18/11/15 Ascot away. League leaders. We can do this!!!!! meet at 10.15am

This is a real 6 pointer!!!
Take a look at their match report from the last time we played them.

http://www.ascotunited.co.uk/fixDetail.asp?sec=4&age=27&team=143&seas=2014&fixID=23287

They were surprised it wasn't a closer result. They may well now be a little too confident for the return match. Lets work double hard at training this Friday and give them the game we are capable of.

It's 11.00am kick off, meet at 10.15am

Their home ground is at Victory Field Recreation Ground, access off the London Road (A329), Sunninghill, SL5 7DG.

There is parking adjacent to the pitch and toilets are available.

T. E. Double D.      I. N. G. T.     O. N!

Our mantra #TAFCU14G - Girls football rocks

2-2 FC Sunbury. 11/1/15 - A tough game, but we'll take the point!

We should have won it... but I'm glad we didn't lose it.
A scrappy first 20 minutes gave the visitors the room they 'needed' and to be fair, it was a great strike that gave them the lead. Once we settled down however, our football improved and our form returned.
Ciara and Lotty working hard and fighting well to push on with the ball... Sarah, Rosie and Sophia cutting out any real danger, with Sophia showing some silky skills in keeping possession and releasing the ball with some lovely passes.
Jen and Lola showed Sunbury how to remain calm under pressure, often skipping round the opposition to move up the field. In Sharna' and Ruby's absence, Elin stepped up her forward pressure and pulled one back. Sunbury took the lead again but we didn't give up, and Sarah's balletic fall after a crushing challenge in the box gave Elin the opportunity to level it up from the penalty spot, which thankfully... she did.

**VIDEO REMOVED**

Although they turned up the pressure for the last few minutes of the game, we held our ground.. were strong at the back, and the whole team rallied to not let them through again.

With the ball in their box many times, we should have taken greater advantage of our pressure and wrapped it up to take all 3 points, but the draw leaves us in 2nd place, with our heads held high.

Its a big game next week.

A real '6 pointer'!

At Home this sunday 11th of January

Fantastic performance from all of the players against Mitcham - "it only takes 9 of you to beat them" is our new mantra!!
The scene was set: 9.15am the first players start to arrive...it's VERY cold (yet pretty warm compared to how cold it got as the game got underway...ask Caroline..hope your feet have defrosted Caroline!), the pitch looks heavy and muddy, a rather bleak midwinter day actually....

During Warm up drills the girls are playful yet focused...most are cold tho...no suprises if you are not wearing base layers ..."it doesn't look good"... well you quickly found out that it's not about look in football, it's about efficiency...be as daring as Elin and even go for white layers! :-)
On a more serious note: PLEASE REMEMBER YOUR BASE LAYERS AND WARM JACKETS (no more purple lips!!) over winter (in case you were interested, I bought mine on this site http://www.mandmdirect.com/01/details/AD9815/adidas-Mens-3-Stripe-Condivo-12-Stadium-Jacket-Black-White

So there we are, it's only 10 of us..... .. but as Ruby rightly pointed out "we don't need more".
1st half is goal-less but hard fought from both sides, HR saving a goal on the line.. our forwards missing some great opportunities... that's how it goes sometimes...
2nd half...Jen is unwell... is now 9 on that pitch... Ciara organises the defense, HR/Sophia/Ciara/Kathryn combo is outstanding! - Sharna, captain for the day, decides to take matters in her own hands:1, 2 goals... miss Jones running the show in midfield (deservedly player of the match) crosses a perfect ball to Ruby who's great finish resulted in a 3-0 FABULOUS!!!

Sunday 11th is at home vs Sunbury.... we'll have the 3 points again :-)
kick off at 1pm meet at 12.15 (Teddington Lock pitch)

Half or 10k - who is joining me? 22nd March

Guys

I have signed up for the Richmond half marathon (http://www.richmondhalf.com/) on the 22/03/2015 there is also a 10k happening at the same time - I was wondering if any of you would like to join me? I can just about do 10k so a half will be a push but it's all in the name of fun (well ...) - obviously it'll be good for the girls to sign up for the 10k if they want to

Let me know once you've signed up :-)

I am betting £5 that Ruby will be the first to join :-) , reckon Lola might be next and then HR (who could never turn down the challenge)...... or could it be Ciara? ..mmmm....
