last game for 2016 - at home to beecholmes

Guys

Huge congratulations for a superbly fought win again top of league Woking on sunday!! The pressure was palpable and it mounted as we were trying to hold on to our lead, you did extremely well coping with that during the game and I m very proud of you! This was the game to win to make sure we kept in the race for winning the league this year and you did that in style with Bella's hat trick and great team performance ! beautiful to watch and exciting.

For those who might have missed it, we agreed at the beginning of the season, ie: the majority of you, that we were setting our eyes on a top of the table for 2016/2017 - likely to be our last season - and we wanted to end on a high. This means that there are times when tough decisions will have to be made with substitution strategy and training requirements. It is by no mean easy to leave someone on the bench, especially when I see how eager they are to play, but we need to think of the team dynamic and the opposition and the stage of the game we are at .... and so, sometimes, substituting for the sake of it is not the right thing to do - I take full responsability as the team manager for that.

So why do I mention this now? it seemed to have created some upset (namely about Hero being our sub for the day, who clearly understood the reasoning behind not playing a lot) and resulted in an anticlimax where the focus was taken away from celebrating your win.
Let's make it a rule that end of matches are for celebration only!! I will happily address your ideas and feedback after :-) just make sure you do it the right way, and pick the right moment - I m more than happy to discuss with you all.

Remember that your role is to play and enjoy your sport, mine is to manage the team.

On sunday, we are at home to Beecholmes - we can't let our guards down

Guys

We had a chance to dust ourselves off and get back on our feet with last week off .. I hope you all took some time to review the video that I sent you, it will be useful going forward. I m still rather upset about the second half of the woking game, which was definitely within our grasp..in hindsight we should have kept our 4-4-2 shape all the way - anyway you all deserved to win this game and I m looking forward to playing them again just to put things right :-)

Onwards and upwards... this sunday, we are at our first round of cup game at home against Caterham. The cup rounds probide a nice challenge and the furthest we've got..from memory.. is second round.., which is to say , not too far at all! so let's see what this year bring and how far we can go in the cup !

16/10 away to Woking - meet at 12!

Dear all

Been thinking at our game against crystal palace reds and can't help but think that we clearly could have won this game ! It is what it is now but we can learn from the game . What let us down isnt our football abilities, we have the right skills in the team to win all our games,,, what let us down is our hunger,  our will, our attitude!
We need to step on the pitch with positive attitude for  EVERY GAME ! no matter who we are playing, where we are playing, the weather or anything else..because we can always find a "good" reason to explain a bad performance, and therefore we have to make the decision to not make excuses, not set any limits  regardless of the circumstances we are in , whether as a team or as individual.. we MAKE the decision to be positive and to make the best of what we are given!

Please take some time to think about it and show me, against Woking - typically a strong team - what you are made of! I count on you

Game is played at Church Road,West End, Woking GU24 9JP,

KO 1PM
Meet at 12.

REMINDER : PLAYERS RESTED :  Depending on training attendance, availabilities and injuries, 2players will be rested on sunday ! I will let you know individually by saturday

Sunday 2/10 away to Crystal Palace - AWAY KIT

Girls!!!

What a fantastic, crisp and efficient display of football against Mitcham - no subs,  4 players missing, brand new keeper on the pitch, even when swapping the back line with the forwards! we nailed it ....they got frustrated, they got physical ...but we worked hard to not let that get to us! We took knocks and kicks and push and elbows, but we didn't let it get to us! THAT's how you win a game, by keeping the focus  ! very proud of all of you for it!!!

13 goals to 1, the save of the season so far from "cat-like" Jennifer who's ability in goals were quite impressive!

This sunday we are away to crystal palace - for a real test ! MEGA apologies from Ed and myself as we, quite coincidentally, away this week end and can't be more gutted about it but we have 150% faith in you all to step up and win this game! We are organizing a coach for you so you wont be on your own!

Kick off: 10am
Meet at 9 am  - on your best behavior and ready to go
Referee: TBC
Venue:
Riddlesdown School,
Honister Heights,

Home again. Sunday 25th September. 11AM Kick Off. Mitcham Park Diamonds

After a bit of a chaotic start to the morning, we eventually got down to business.

Beecholme Belles have put up a good fight before, but the first 15 minutes saw us keep control of the ball, and the game! Its fair to say we were the stronger side and applied a pretty constant pressure... keeping the ball when required, and passing out of trouble when it came.

But the lesson today was we can never let our guard down. As we let our shape slip, they started to take advantage of the new found space. They were calm, and took their chance. A good ball through.. a moments hesitation.. and we were behind.
It was virtually their first shot on target and I'm sure their manager would agree... a lucky goal.

Those that maybe let the fitness slip over the summer were certainly glad of the half time whistle, when we were able to catch our breath and re group.

They were very VERY organised at the back, and time after time we were thwarted at the last. Their recent signing of Sunbury's keeper kept them in the lead as we started to shoot more frequently. Great corners from Lauren (welcome to the team Lauren!!), strong and determined work from Bella in the middle (welcome to the team Bella) and busy pressure from Sharna and Katie up front (welcome to you too, Katie!!) gave everyone watching, the belief that a goal would come.

And when it did, it was a great example of grabbing whatever chances come up. A neat ball from the middle for Sharna to run on to, and sheer determination from last seasons highest goal scorer brought us level. A valiant effort from their keeper, but a lovely bit of skill from Sharna.

We should have sealed the deal as we basically made camp in their half, if not their box, but it wasn't to be. Maybe a point was fair, but it could have (and probably should have..) been all 3 for us.

Well done everyone of you. Your heads didn't drop, and you fought till the end. A good sign of things to come

So this week, its our old favourites Mitcham.

You all know what you have to do. Lets have this.

Meet at 10 am. Broom Road. KO 11

Home on sunday the 18th - 11am KO St Mary's Pitch- Beecholmes belles

Welcome back Girls and well done for your first game of the season with a fantastic win at Caterham. We all admitted that we had a scrappy start, thankfully our strength and caterham's lack of experience meant that we were well ahead at half time - the second half was definitely much better with some great passing and movement off the ball and great finishes. We experimented a lot with different combination and formation -  HR right wing and sharna centre defender was a first, It gives us a lot of option going forward and a chance for some to play in a new role.

We are in a great position this year and have a squad of 16!!!  so the decision has been to take 2 or 3 subs per games .With a matchday squad of 14 selected (on a Friday night after training)  two girls will be unused every week. This will fairly distributed around the squad and will obviously include allowances for absences due to other activities. On the other hand, absence from Friday training will usually make the management’s squad selection decisions much easier. So please make sure you treat training on Fridays as an absolute MUST ATTEND!

we will still be running fitness session on wednesday - i will mostly be running them, however the girls will self run in case I or Ed cant make it

This sunday we are at home 11am KO
meet at 10AM

Every game matter!

No More training session BUT.......please read!

Dear all

Still buzzing from our last game and the great turnaround by "magic boots" Jennifer spurred on by a fantastic team dynamic and push and encouragements from the line!

This was sadly the last game of the season but I am glad to report that, in line with your goals set in september, we finished THIRD in the league this year!!! fantastic effort from all and what a year!!

Now what's next?

  • Training: I understand there was a little "incident" last week when most of you turned up, in fact more than we've had all season, at training! sorry for the confusion and sorry for the fact that you got turned down! So just to confirm, we have no scheduled training sessions until end of april
  • End of year: with the camping on the 4/06 and my party on the 14t may I think that our social calendar is well catered for ...so we will organise the Bubble football as a kick off for the BEGINNING of next season
  • Next year : We are setting ourselves up for a great year and I will explain more soon - I think we should be aiming HIGH
  • Football Summer : I will expect you all to keep a level of fitness acceptable for a fast start in september ... you are moving to U16G and this is now a different story as far as the fitness is concerned. I will be organising ad'hoc kick around/fitness sessions in Udney Park followed by pizza ...or salad :-) so stay tuned

VERY PROUD OF ALL OF YOU !!!

END OF SEASON BASH ! Need your feedback

Dear all

Great news for our end of year !!!

CAMPING WEEK END:
The penney's have open their field again to us and I am pleased to announce that we will be having a camping week end June 4th – June 5th  from 12 onwards

Could you please ALL confirm who can make that date? we need to  know the numbers of adults and children to work out quantities for the food.

Agenda roughly, arrive from 12ish and bring their own pack lunch if arriving then, set up tents, footie games, tractor rides afternoon and can sort out some other games. Sit around the bonfire and marshmallows in the evening.

We will ask a contribution of £5 per person for food (approx but Julie will confirm) for the BBQ food  in the evening and bacon or sausage sandwiches for breakfast.  If anyone has any special requirements they could bring their specific food to make it a little easier. If everyone can bring soft drinks enough for Sat and Sunday and alcohol if they wish. The Penney's will provide the  tea, coffee and squash.
Depending on the weather we'll decide what time we leave Sunday, if its rubbish we would probably want to pack up and go after breakfast, or if its ok we could do a really nice walk to a pub (for refreshments!) and back.  Anyway we can see on the day but people would need to bring walking shoes.

BUBBLE FOOTBALL:

Birthday Party 14th may - need final numbers

It dawned on me this morning that we are now just 3 weeks away from what shaping up to be a great fun party! I have a lot of entertainment in store for us to celebrate this 40th as it should !! I hope you will all be there as planned !
On that note, I need your help! if you could firmly confim your presence (kids + adults) as I need to fnalise numbers and pay for the catering and as such I really need to get it right!

Also remember, free champagne will be served until 4pm! smile emoticon
as we will be organising games from 4pm onwards, I am hopeful this "incentive" will encourage you all to get there before 4pm! smile emoticon
I am very excited to seeing you all and party with you soon!!

READ CAREFULLY ! Home game 10th april - VENUE CHANGE

Hi all

Again, fantastic first 65min  of game against top of the league Croydon.... with 10 players on the pitch! tremendous work rate from all of you and a real sense of pride for us on the side line....
sadly iwe made some silly mistakes that cost us, in the last 15 min we got tired and lost concentration maybe...one thing for sure is that the final score doesn't reflect the hard work you put in and the quality of the game you played!

That leaves us at the 3rd spot in the league table and that s a very, very, very GREAT achievement!!! that you should all be very proud of! Let's go out in style with the few games we have left!

Beecholmes at home at a DIFFERENT VENUE

·       Kick Off : 12.30pm KO

·       Referee is Ed Morley

·       Address and direction to the pitch:

Football development pathway ... for those interested, come and talk to me

More info : http://www.thefa.com/womens-girls-football/england-talent-pathway

Some tips as to what it takes to get "noticed":

1. Football skills

Having a good technique is a must but often technique and control are mistaken for flashy dribbles and Joga Bonito escapades. One of the most important aspects and qualities of a player is his first touch. It sets him up for his next move and it often proves crucial. It shows that a player thinks ahead and can give him time for a pass or a shot.
About the flashy moves, pulling of exquisite tricks shows a player is very capable and brave enough to do them but it all comes down to the end product. If it helps to beat an opponent and aid your team, tremendous, if it stalls your counter attack, well that’s unacceptable. So scouts look for players who are capable with the ball at their feet and can use their technical ability for their own and more importantly their team’s advantage.

2. Tactical awareness

Tactical awareness, some even call this football IQ, means how players move across the field and recognise different situations. It’s not just what they do with the ball that’s important, what they do without it means just as much. How they close down space and opponents in defence and how they move to draw defenders and open up spaces for their teammates in attack.
They have to be aware of their teammates and their position on the field and the same goes for their opponents.Roger Skyrme, the Fulham scout described his methods by saying: “You’ll rarely see me with my eyes on the ball during a match. I’ll be busy looking at things like players position on the pitch, and whether they’re prepared to get stuck in and help their team-mates out.”

3. Physique

Physical attributes such as speed and size are qualities that are given by nature and can hardly be trained. Although being tall and speedy are welcome attributes, they are not the most important. It depends on the position you play and your other traits. Look at Mathieu Valbuena for example he was cast aside as a youngster for his small stature but proved himself through the lower leagues and made it to the French national team and has already played for some big clubs.
While you can’t influence your growth you can work on your stamina and balance, or your ball control. Nowadays the bigger clubs test players at a young age to see how tall they will grow but this usually carries more significance if a player is a goalkeeper.

4. Temperament

Scouts look for a lot more in players than their football skills; they need to assess the mental makeup of a player. They need to see if a player is capable of playing under pressure and keep his emotions in check for the sake of their team.
They look for brave, enthusiastic players who have the drive to keep going and lead the team forward. Sometimes clubs invite player’s families for further insight in the player’s background and upbringing to easily assess their temperament. They look into the player from all angles but Arsenal’s scout Gilles Grimandi still maintains it can all be seen on the football pitch: “The pitch doesn’t lie. When you see a guy 20 times … and when you see a kid warming up, you understand many things.”
The most important thing to remember is to always give your best and assume there are scouts watching. As Tony Lepore, Director of scouting for the US Soccer Development Academy, said: “It’s hard to hide good players. If you’re a good player we’ll find you.”

Caterham Pumas AWAY 13th March

Girls

What a tough game we have just come out of - They were physical and we let them get on our nerves... pressure mounted from the kick off, it was meant to be a tense game and it was!! Your desire to win was obvious. Your commitment was exemplary:
  • Sarah's forehead lump "didi" can testify to that!
  • sliding tackle (elin!??),
  • challenges (Kathryn's KO),
  • Ciara goalie performance, (green suits you mate)
  • Tonsilitis Fran spreading fever on her side,
  • shortest player Hero having her David&Goliath moments and not shying away,
  • HR getting cosy with their big striker in many shoulder to shoulder battles!
  • Shar constantly being pushed about by 2-3 BIG defenders!

tears and bruises anyone?!.... and even Lola came to help

- I am proud.... proud because your attitude was awesome, your hunger was awesome and you were awesome....what I particularly loved was that you remained positive throughout and supportive of each other! that's is the biggest take away for me!

- However we let it go in the same way we did against Croydon, because we dropped to their football when we should have been imposing our football.... we can play, and when we combine that with positive attitude we are unstoppable!

Back on the horse sunday away to caterham!

Kick off at 12
Meet at 11am
