Huge congratulations for a superbly fought win again top of league Woking on sunday!! The pressure was palpable and it mounted as we were trying to hold on to our lead, you did extremely well coping with that during the game and I m very proud of you! This was the game to win to make sure we kept in the race for winning the league this year and you did that in style with Bella's hat trick and great team performance ! beautiful to watch and exciting.
For those who might have missed it, we agreed at the beginning of the season, ie: the majority of you, that we were setting our eyes on a top of the table for 2016/2017 - likely to be our last season - and we wanted to end on a high. This means that there are times when tough decisions will have to be made with substitution strategy and training requirements. It is by no mean easy to leave someone on the bench, especially when I see how eager they are to play, but we need to think of the team dynamic and the opposition and the stage of the game we are at .... and so, sometimes, substituting for the sake of it is not the right thing to do - I take full responsability as the team manager for that.
So why do I mention this now? it seemed to have created some upset (namely about Hero being our sub for the day, who clearly understood the reasoning behind not playing a lot) and resulted in an anticlimax where the focus was taken away from celebrating your win.
Let's make it a rule that end of matches are for celebration only!! I will happily address your ideas and feedback after :-) just make sure you do it the right way, and pick the right moment - I m more than happy to discuss with you all.
Remember that your role is to play and enjoy your sport, mine is to manage the team.
