MATCH REPORT : and they DID IT !!! with style....

A few words from me before the match report courtesy of Mr Laus! (thank you Robert!)

2 great goals vs a very poor one (in a very fair and unbiased analysis!!) Today's win is a consequence of the girls "we are not loosing against them" attitude! they fought every single ball as if the world was to end (ok may be a bit over the top here but you get what I mean)I am so very proud of the girls team spirit, determination and skills!!
Aldershot is always a tough game and the girls reaction today was exemplary! the confidence shown in moving the ball around and using their skills... the strength is standing their ground against big and sometimes aggressive opponents - Girls you fill me with pride! THANK YOU

After they stole the points from us at our previous encounter, we were on a mission: show up, show off and win!
In the first half we pushed forwards with Hannah Reiter, Charlotje, Elin and Ruby, constantly making it difficult for the physically strong Aldershot defence. Some great passing, positioning and runs but any shot on goal was stopped by their keeper. During most of the first half we were dominating, with good midfield and defence work from Hannah Rose, Sophia, Jennifer, Alice and Charlotje. Katherine was not challenged much in the first half, but Aldershot created one chance that they managed to turn into a goal despite good defending. We did some great passing, positioning and runs but we did not manage to get the ball past their keeper.

In the second half, after Christelle and Ed’s spirited team talk, we were turning the pressure up from the start. Sarah came on to replace an excellent-performing Jennifer, and after some great passes, attacks, and good saves from Katherine our fighting team spirit finally got rewarded. After a cross from Charlotje, Elin smashed the ball into the back of the net. We kept the pressure on the Aldershot defence, but several shots on goal were saved by the Aldershot keeper. Elin came off for Bella who quickly engaged into the game. Throughout the game there were some physical challenges from the Aldershot side and unfortunately Alice who had a solid game, got injured. Elin returned to replace her and soon after this, towards the end of the game, Ruby got through the defence and with her left foot managed a well-deserved goal to get us in the lead. From then on it was clear who was the better team and when the final whistle blew, Teddington had done what they had set out to do: turn up, show off and WIN. Well played, fantastic team work and congratulations to Sarah, Player of the Match. Thanks to some great coaching and of course, our trusty linesman Mick and the spectacular crowd.
