MATCH REPORT: Teddington U13 vs Abbey rangers (H) 4-0 6th October

By Simon Attoe:

Well it's great to be back with a win after a couple of very difficult games.
An early GOOOOOOOOOOAL by Elin gave the team a great start, but Abbey Rangers were not to be underestimated as they made a few fast breaks that threatened our goal. Fortunately Sophia and Kathryn were on hand to thwart their attacks.

Bella, Lola, Alice and Charlottje managed to keep up the pressure and Sadie managed to dent the posts a couple of times before Ruby added a second GOOOOOOOOOOOOAL. A defensive change in the second half brought on Sarah, Hannah Rose and Jennifer who managed to maintain the good work in defence.

Ruby added a second GOOOOOOOOOOOAL early into the second half but it wasn't a time to take it easy as the opposition kept trying to get back into the game. However Hannah Reiter wasn't happy to leave the game at 3-0 and made a number of great runs down the wing before scoring a magnificent GOOOOOOOOOOOAL.

All in all an excellent TEAM effort and I am always impressed by how much effort the girls put into every game.

Things to work on include making sure we don't give the ball away. If we do then we should get the ball back quickly. More confidence in defence so that parents don't have heart attacks. A great result and well done to everybody.

Big thanks to Carlos and Caroline for their tea and coffee facilities. Apologies to anyone that I've missed out but thanks and I appreciate all your work and we are a great team.

Scorers: Ruby 2, Elin 1, Hannah 1

I was very very pleased to see some of the things we’ve been practicing - passing the ball thru – Elin/Lottie did some great things in passing to the wingers and using the width which resulted in some great break from hannah, ruby, sadie and Lola. Great performance from the defenders, the line stayed high which help catching the opposition offside and Kathryn had her best performance to date – great goal kicks both in the air and on the ground and good position in the box. We tried a new structure during the first hal (3-3-2) but it was apparent that the girls were a lot more comfortable with our 4-3-1
